Outwrite Founder to Receive Lifetime Achievement Award

Atlanta Gay and Lesbian Chamber of Commerce to honor Philip Rafshoon.

A Midtown resident and businessman will be honored later this month.

The Atlanta Gay and Lesbian Chamber of Commerce will honor Philip Rafshoon, founder of , at a ceremony in Midtown on Aug. 26.

Rafshoon will be awarded the 2011 Lifetime Achievement Award.

“Philip is an outstanding advocate, member and friend,” Allison McDonald, president of the chamber, said in a release.

Rafshoon opened Outwrite 18 years ago to help promote gay and lesbian artists.

“From serving on Mayor Kasim Reed’s transition team to being named an honorary grand marshal for the Atlanta Pride parade, Philip always makes sure that the LGBT voice is heard," McDonald said. 
 
The ceremony will be held at the . Several other awards will be presented. Tickets are $110 and can be purchased online.
