On Saturday, Oct. 1, thousands of people came to Party at Ponce at the former City Hall East building on Ponce de Leon Avenue.

The party celebrated the kick-off of a massive redevelopment project called Ponce City Market. The project will re-purpose the 2 million square-foot brick building, which was built as a retail store and warehouse distribution center for Sears, Roebuck & Company in the 1920s.

Jamestown Properties plans to develop Ponce City Market with retail, office and residential space. The first phase should open by spring 2014.
