What's Open and Closed in Midtown on Presidents' Day?

Check out what's open and closed in Midtown and the City of Atlanta for Presidents' Day.

With Valentine's Day just past us, Presidents' Day arrives Monday. The holiday commemorates George Washington and Abraham Lincoln, both born in February, as well as other presidents.

  • Atlanta Public Schools will be closed Monday.
  • All Atlanta-Fulton Library branches will remain open. The Atlanta History Center will also be a place to take the kids.
  • Because it's a federal holiday, banks will be closed, and mail won't be delivered.
  • Supermarkets and Atlantic Station will be open, with some stores holding Presidents' Day sales.

Washington, the nation's first president and the Revolutionary War leader, was born on Feb. 22, 1732, under the Gregorian or new calendar, or Feb. 11, under the old style Julian calendar used in Britain until 1752, according to About.com.

Lincoln, the president who led the union to victory in the Civil War, was born on Feb. 12, 1809.
