Red Bull Soapbox Race to Return to Midtown

Register now to race in the June event.

Start your imaginary engines and get your crazy costumes out.

The Red Bull Soapbox Race is returning to Midtown.

On Wednesday, organizers announced the race is set for June 9. The event again will be held near , as in 2009 when it last came to town.

About 40 teams will participate in the race, according to a release.

Want to participate? Teams can register through Monday, April 16. The application is online.

Teams are judged on speed, creativity and showmanship. 

"Each soapbox must be powered by gravity and imagination, which means no stored power or external energy sources allowed," a spokeswoman said.
