Screen on the Green Will Return to Piedmont Park

Four companies stepped up to pay for the outdoor movie series.

Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed, on Wednesday, announced that Screen on the Green will return to Piedmont Park.

On May 10, the Piedmont Park Conservancy announced that the outdoor movie series due to a lack of funding. 

But four companies -- The Coca Cola Company, Delta Airlines, Georgia Natural Gas and Comcast -- stepped up to pay for event.

“Screen on the Green has been a long-standing summer tradition in the city of Atlanta for both residents and visitors, and I am pleased that the popular movie series will return this year,” Reed said.

The movies will take place every Thursday in June.

Here is the schedule of movies:

  • June 2: Back to the Future (1985)
  • June 9: Imitation of Life (1959)
  • June 16: Sixteen Candles (1984)
  • June 23: Viewers' Choice -- The Birds (1963) or Frankenstein (1931)
  • June 30: Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory (1971)

Moviegoers can bring food and snacks, but not glass containers, umbrellas, high-backed chairs and grills. Attendees are asked to leave pets at home.
