Summer Storm Topples Trees, Knocks Out Power on Saturday
No injuries reported as trees fall down in the several sections of the city of Atlanta.
A swift-moving storm brought down trees and knocked out power for thousands of intown Atlanta residents on Saturday afternoon.
More than 3,000 metro Atlanta customers lost power as a result of the severe thunderstorms that blew through the area and toppled trees from Buckhead to Midtown.
Two cars were crushed near Piedmont Hospital, while downed trees also fell across Northside Parkway, West Paces Ferry Road, West Wesley Road, and Beverly Road among others.

There were no injuries reported during the storms that arrived on the first day of summer. According to the weather service, rainfall totals in Fulton County averaged 1.5 inches from from 5 p.m. Friday until 5 p.m. Saturday.
Sunday’s forecast calls for sunshine and isolated storms with highs reaching the low 90s. The chance of rain jumps to 60 percent on Monday.
