Traffic Plan for Music Midtown

How to get around the festival this weekend.

Music Midtown returns to this weekend.

The one-day festival will run from noon to 11 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 24. Organizers estimate the festival will bring 60,000 people. There will be two stages and ten artists who perform at the event.

Festival goers are encouraged to take MARTA. There will be extended hours during the event; trains will run until 1 a.m. on Saturday.

Here are the traffic closures for the festival:

  • The three east-bound lanes of 10th Street between Charles Allen Drive and Monroe Drive (the ones closest to Grady High School) will be used for two-way traffic while the two west-bound lane (the ones closest to Piedmont Park) will be closed. These lanes will remain closed until the festival completes load-out on Monday, Sept. 26th at midnight.
  • On Thursday, Sept. 22nd from 6 a.m. until Sunday, Sept. 25th at midnight, the east-bound curb lane (parking lane) of Charles Allen Drive from 8th street to 10th street will be closed.
  • On Friday, Sept. 23rd from midnight through 6 a.m. one lane of 10th Street from Charles Allen to Piedmont Avenue (on the side closest to Piedmont Park) will be closed.  There will be access to the Post Parkside Parking Lot and retail parking lot at all times.  This lane will remain closed until Saturday, Sept. 24th from 6 a.m. There will be access to the Post Parkside Parking Lot and retail parking lot at all times.
  • On Saturday, Sep. 24th from 6 a.m. to Sunday, Sept. 25th at midnight, 10th Street between Piedmont Ave and Monroe Drive will be closed to non-resident traffic.  APD will provide intermittent traffic control for ADA, emergency vehicle and MARTA access during this time.
  • Residents can present a valid driver’s license or recent utility bill with an address within the resident only area to gain access.  They can also display a Resident Access Pass.  Passes are available for pick-up on Thursday, Sept. 22nd and Friday, Sept. 23rd in the Grady Parking Lot nearest 10th Street and Charles Allen Drive. The trailer will be staffed from 4 to 9 p.m. on Thursday and from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Friday.  There is a limit of two passes per household and residents must present a valid driver’s license or recent utility bill to receive the pass.
  • On Sunday, Sept. 25th, 10th Street between Charles Allen Drive and Monroe Drive will be closed for load-out of the festival infrastructure (stage, tents, etc) from midnight to 11 p.m. APD will be onsite to allow intermittent traffic flow for all vehicles during this period. Traffic will be allowed to move freely as long as there is not pedestrian traffic or production vehicles/equipment actively loading out.
