Grady High School: Activism Club Documentary Screening and Guest Speaker Sarah Vitorino

After a successful screening of Dark Days, the Activism Club is hosting another screening in the Main Theater.  The film, The Interrupters (from the director of Hoop Dreams), will be shown.  The Interrupters is a film following several members of a Chicago organization devoted to patrolling the streets and peacefully intervening in violent situations.  The organization uses  previously incarcerated and violent citizens of Chicago who realized that they can change their own ways and have moved on to influence others.

Accompanying the presentation will be guest speaker Sarah Vitorino.  Ms. Vitorino works with teenagers, women, and currently incarcerated individuals to tell formerly imprisoned women's success stories and inspire success in others. Read about Ms. Vitorino in her TedxEmory bio (http://tedxemory.org/sarah-vitorino/).

There will be concessions for sale and Ms. Vitorino will speak personally with anyone interested.
