SCAD Style 2012

The Savannah College of Art and Design will host SCAD Style 2012, the university’s nationally recognized, signature style and design event, April 16-20 at SCAD Atlanta, 1600 Peachtree St.

SCAD Style features world-renowned artists, designers and industry professionals in a series of lectures, exhibitions and film screenings. All events are free and open to the public. 

Among the events scheduled throughout the week are:

SCREENINGS:

“The Tents,” which explores the birth and growth of New York Fashion Week from its beginnings at Bryant Park to its new home at the Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts  with exclusive behind the scenes footage, followed by a discussion with director James Belzer

LECTURES:

John Gidding, interior designer, architect and host of HGTV’s “Curb Appeal: The Block”

Mimi Plange, Ghanaian-born fashion designer of the luxury women’s wear label inspired by 17th-century fashion with the ease and sensibility of modern lines

Laurie Pressman, vice president for fashion, home and interiors at Pantone, the world authority on color, who will present her 2013 trend report

Gregory Wein, style director at Surface Magazine

BOOK SIGNINGS: 

Lecture and book signing by Amy Flurry, “Recipe for Press,” a “guide to being your own publicist”
