Learn to Dance at the Georgian Terrace

In honor of the hotel's 100th anniversary, the Arthur Murray Dance Studios will hold dance lessons every Thursday in May.

Legendary ballroom dance leader Arthur Murray began teaching dance lessons at the Georgian Terrace Hotel in 1918. At the time, he was  a student at Georgia Tech and soon was featured in a Forbes Magazine article entitled “This College Student Earns More Than $15,000 a Year.”

To honor Murray's legacy and celebrate the 100th anniversary of the hotel, the Georgian Terrance will host a series of dance parties each Thursday in May. The events will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. at the hotel.

“For 100 years now, people have been coming to the Georgian Terrace to cast off their cares for a little while and rejoice in the fun and friendship of special occasions,” Carl Dees, general manager for the Georgian Terrace, said in a release. “So, what could be more apropos than launching our anniversary year with a series of dance parties hosted by experts whose family has been dancing with Arthur Murray Studios for more than 60 years?”
