Outwrite's 'Last Tango' on Piedmont

The iconic gay and lesbian bookstore has scheduled what could be the final event at its longtime home in Midtown.

Outwrite , due to financial struggles, it would have to relocate after 15 years at the corner of Piedmont Avenue and 10th Street.

On Tuesday, Jan. 24, a special evening of readings will be held called "Last Tango at Piedmont & Tenth." Some of Atlanta's favorite poets and writers will participate, including Collin Kelley, Hollis Gillespie, Don Perryman, Karen Head, Mose Hardin and Daniel Helminiak.

Atlanta poet Franklin Abbott will host the free event, which begins at 7:30 p.m.

Outwrite founder and owner Philip Rafshoon says the bookstore will relocate to a new location. But its new home has yet to be announced.

"We are still working on it," Rafshoon said Wednesday in an email. "We should know within a couple of weeks."
