Johnson was visiting his wife's hometown of Lyndonville, N.Y., for a family gathering on July 4 when he shot the winning photo.

"During the afternoon, a group of teenagers (including some of my nieces and nephews) announced they 'were going swimming and bridge jumping,'" Johnson said. "I followed the group to a bridge just outside of town. I got a bunch of great shots but the one I submitted for the contest was my favorite."

The two boys pictured in photo are: Badr Mustafa (foreground), a foreign exchange student from Egypt, and Billy Covell, Johnson's nephew. Mustafa had lived with the Covell family for a year and now is part of the extended family, Johnson said.

"He was visiting the family and this was his first time jumping from the bridge, which makes his perfect form all the more impressive," Johnson said.
