“We’ve got an exciting night planned,” says Vikki Millender-Morrow, president and CEO of G-CAPP. “It starts out with a reception for VIP guests with fabulous hors d’oeuvres and drinks and the opportunity to hang out with cast members. The fun evening we have planned includes dancers, a DJ, silent and live auctions and then we’ll move on to watch the movie.”
Directed by two-time Academy Award nominated Bruce Beresford, “Peace, Love, & Misunderstanding” is a comedy about an uptight New York City lawyer (Catherine Keener) who, after splitting with her husband, takes her two spirited teenagers (Nat Wolff and Elizabeth Olsen) to her hippie mother's (Academy Award-winner Jane Fonda) house in the rural countryside. The story explores the things that unite and divide families. Actor Chace Crawford is also among the star cast.

“With Jane Fonda as star and her being founder of G-CAPP this is a wonderful opportunity that we’ve benefitted from,” says Millender-Morrow. “Having a movie premiere here in Atlanta is pretty rare let alone one with so many Oscar nods. And it’s even rarer to have a movie premiere as a charity event, now 13 years running, for G-CAPP. We are excited to continue such a unique, fun, experience for Atlanta and grateful for the much needed support and awareness the event brings to teen pregnancy prevention in Georgia.”
Individual tickets start at $150 and include a cocktail reception and access to the auctions and the screening. VIP tickets include priority seating, a red carpet entrance and an exclusive reception with celebrity guests.
When Jane Fonda launched G-CAPP in 1995, Georgia had the nation’s highest teen birth rate. Since its founding, the state has seen a 32 percent decrease in teen pregnancy (though it still ranks as having the 13th highest teen birth rate in the country).
Teen pregnancy costs Georgia taxpayers more than $465 million a year. “Several things go into that number,” says Millender-Morrow, “and it’s inextricably linked to every social issue that burdens our state like poverty, high school dropout rates, workforce development, and fragile families.” Among its program offerings, G-CAPP operates seven homes with the goals “to prevent a second teen pregnancy, make sure girls finish high school and make sure teen moms have the
skills to be a good parent.” Initiatives are based on proven models.
“Addressing this issue often means changing the circumstances for some of our most vulnerable young people,” she says. “And I’m grateful for the awareness this event brings to this really tough issue.”
