World AIDS Day at MODA

The Museum of Design Atlanta will commemorate World AIDS Day by staying open for 24 hours (from 12:00am to 11:59pm on December 1).  During that time period, visitors to the museum will have the opportunity to take in two AIDS-related exhibitions, Graphic Intervention: 25 Years of World AIDS Posters and The AIDS Memorial Quilt, as well as an array of educational opportunities, entertaining performances, and commemorations of those who have passed.

MODA’s World AIDS Day commemoration will include  the following events:

12:00 Noon:  Lunch and Stories of the Quilt with the NAMES Project

1:00-4:00 PM:  Quilting Workshop presented by the NAMES Project

4:00 PM:  Georgia State Opera presents “Amahl & the Night Visitors” by Gea Carlo Menotti

5:00 – 7:00PM:  Quilting Workshop presented by the NAMES Project

5:30 PM:  Lecture on HIV/AIDS by Dr. Andres Camacho-Gonzalez

7:00 PM:  Performance by the Atlanta Philarmonic Orchestra

8:00 PM:  Brian Clowdus and the Serenbe Playhouse Divas present “Glitter and Be Gay,” as well as a sneak preview of the Ladies of “A Diva’s Christmas”

9:00 PM:  Drag performance by The Armorettes

10:30 PM:  Zoetic Dance performs in the MODA galleries

11:30 PM:  Candlelight Vigil with musical performance by Timothy Boyd Miller
