Movie extras needed as stars Vaughn, Wilson reunite in Midtown

"The Internship," which stars Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson, begins filming soon in Midtown Atlanta

The cameras in “Hollywood Midtown” have been rolling this week and the action will continue into July, as well.

This week, “42” has been shooting scenes, including those at the Biltmore, while nearby, the Georgian Terrace has been the location for some “ID Theft” scenes.

“42” centers on the life baseball great Jackie Robinson and stars Chadwick Boseman and Harrison Ford, who has been spotted around Midtown this week. “ID Theft” stars Jason Batmen and Melissa McCarthy and is about a fella who has his identity swiped by a woman.

Next up locally will be “The Internship,” which reunites actors Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson, who last starred together in “Wedding Crashers.” According to Movieweb, it centers on “two old school salesmen who, finding themselves suddenly unemployed and passed-by in the digital world, try to reinvent themselves by becoming interns at a major tech company.”

The producers of the movie are currently looking for extras. Males and females of all ethnicities, ages 18-40, are welcome to apply for the following paying roles that will be needed for several days between the end of July through September 11:

  • “Nooglers” - nerds, brainiacs, gamers, etc., ages 18-25
  • “Googlers” - nerds, professors, brainiacs, etc., ages 25-40

A casting call is being held on Thursday, June 28 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., in the Georgia Tech Student Center Commons Piedmont Room, located at 350 Ferst Drive. If you are unable to stop by, you can email the following information, by Friday, June 29, to InternsATL@gmail.com:

  • Three photos: close up of your face, medium shot from the top of your head to your hips and full length
  • Height, weight and age (You must be 18 or above to participate)
  • Contact information and your availability during the summer

Those who have already submitted this information do not need to reapply.

You also might be on the lookout for the stars in Midtown as filming will take place at a 9th Street private residence on July 10-11. Prep crews could begin work as early as July 3 and during this time, prep vehicles will park on the southern curb lane of 9th Street between Myrtle Street and Argonne Avenue. This lane permit will extend past the filming dates through July 18.

Additionally, there will some lane and road closures in cooperation with the Atlanta Police Department during the filming dates.

They will include:

JULY 10

- Closure on the southern parking lane of 9th between Myrtle and Argonne.

- Closure on the eastern curb lane of Argonne between 8th and 10th streets.

JULY 11

- Full street closure of 9th between Myrtle and Taft Avenue for exterior filming.

- Closure on the eastern curb lane of Argonne between 8th and 10th.

All homeowners will be able to access their homes and park in their driveways—APD may ask you to wait briefly until the cameras stop rolling, but you will not be denied access to your home.
