The Susan G. Komen Atlanta Race for the Cure, celebrated every spring on Mother's Day Weekend, serves as the premiere fundraiser for the Greater Atlanta Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure. Started in 1991 with just a few hundred participants, the Race has grown steadily to more than 15,000.

The Komen Race for the Cure Series is the world's largest and most successful education and fundraising event for breast cancer. Since its origination in Dallas in 1983, the series has grown from one local race with 800 participants to an international series of 114 races with more than 1.3 million participants.

The Race for the Cure is Komen Atlanta's largest revenue source for community public health efforts. Metro Atlanta community members are able to receive life-saving screening services and/or necessary breast health information from Komen Atlanta and its grantees through funds raised during the event.

Seventy-five percent of all funds raised stay in the 13-county Metro Atlanta area to fund Komen Atlanta's extensive grant program which funds local breast cancer programs that provide life-saving screening, diagnostic and support services for the medically underserved.

Twenty-five percent of all funds raised support the national Komen Foundation Award and Research Grant Program. The funds raised from the event will directly impact Komen Atlanta's ability to enable women to detect and survive breast cancer.

2013-2014 Komen Atlanta Grantees
