UPDATE at 1:20 p.m.

A spokeswoman with Macy's tells Buckhead Patch that the Great Tree at Macy's in Lenox Square fell into the roof of the store's men's department when the crane snapped Wednesday morning.

The Men's Store at Macy's is currently closed, though the rest of the store should open to the public this afternoon, said Melissa Goff, spokeswoman for Macy's.

Goff was not able to give details about the damage caused by the incident.

"We are currently assessing the damage," Goff wrote Buckhead Patch in an email.

While lowering the Macy's Christmas tree from atop the department store at Lenox Square Mall Wednesday morning, a crane broke and left the huge pine dangling from the side of the three-story store.

There were no immediate reports of injury, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution and the mall's security quickly blocked off the north parking lot area for safety reasons.

Some pieces of the tree and large ornaments fell to the ground, the newspaper reported.
