Dual-Branded Hotel Breaks Ground In Midtown

Project leaders hold ceremony for new 12-story hotel at 10th and Williams streets.

Midtown's newest hotel project, a dual-branded Hilton Garden Inn and Homewood Suites by Hilton Hotel, broke ground Thursday.

Elected officials and project leaders from Hilton Worldwide and Alpharetta-based North Point Hospitality Group were in attendance.

Jay Patel, president and CEO of North Point, told Patch at the ceremony that the Midtown project is a $44 million investment, funded through Wells Fargo.

The hotel will create 200 construction jobs and more than 100 full-time jobs when it's complete, Patel said.

Both hotels will be constructed at the same time within a 12-story tower.

The hotels will replace a parking lot located at 10th and Williams streets, adjacent to the downtown Connector.

Combined, the hotels will have 226 units. Features include meeting and conference space for 200 people, a 110-seat restaurant and lounge, an outdoor pool and spa, fitness center and valet parking.

The first four stories of the property will be parking, according to Alex Espinoza, general superintendent. The hotels will occupy floors 5 through 12.

Access to the hotels will be from Williams Street. Guests will exit onto 10th Street.

The hotels are scheduled to open in the first quarter of 2013. Construction began Thursday.

"I told my superintendent tomorrow morning I'm driving by at 6 a.m. and there better be construction activity," Patel said at the ceremony.
