Food Lion to Close 113 Stores, Including Lawrenceville Location

The store on Lawrenceville-Suwanee Rd will close within 30 days.

's parent company Delhaize America announced they are closing 113 stores, including one in Lawrenceville. Delhaize says they are closing underperforming stores and focusing on areas where there are relatively few Food Lion supermarkets.

All the affected stores, including the one on Lawrenceville-Suwanee Rd, will close within 30 days.

Nationwide, 4,900 employees will lose their jobs. Delhaize says they will provide severance to eligible associates, and will work with government officials to help with transition support.

"While these were difficult decisions given the impact on our associates, customers and communities, we believe these actions will enable us to better serve our customers in our markets with high density, while positioning the company for future growth," said Ron Hodge, CEO of Delhaize America in a release.

Our store has only been open for about 2years!! I luv the store but there is never really for than a had full of people in the store or in the lot as a whole. I think it was in the wrong location to receive alot of shoppers. The had the best prices on meats and a good coupon policy. I will miss them but not the extra mile it took me to get there.
