Midtown welcomes Eco Denizen next week

The real estate investment firm Jamestown announced Friday that Eco Denizen will open its doors at 999 Peachtree Street on May 22. Eco Denizen is a new retailer focused on helping consumers find ways to be more “green,” including re-filling and re-using.

Eco Denizen will occupy 1,336 square feet of street level space. The retailer will offer products and services that are sure to pique the interest of everyone from the “eco-curious” to the most planet-friendly families in Midtown and beyond.

"We spent a great deal of time searching for the perfect Atlanta area retail and design location,” said co-owner Gene Cox in a news release. “Nowhere else could we find the perfect combination of a walkable community and property owners - such as Jamestown - that are sincerely excited about eco-friendly living."  

999 Peachtree is helping lead its urban neighbors toward a greener future with multiple sustainable initiatives that range from simple recycling, a Bike Share Program and a Zipcar station to the installation of major eco-friendly building-wide systems.

“Jamestown is committed to pursuing tenants that contribute to the creative environment of the neighborhood,” said Matt Bronfman, CEO of Jamestown, in a statement. “Eco Denizen is a dynamic addition to the diverse collection of businesses, restaurants and cultural organizations at 999 Peachtree. We continue to focus on attracting tenants that are a natural reflection of the burgeoning eco-friendly Midtown neighborhood."

The creative team at Eco Denizen believes smarter building and better living are not just attainable with the latest “green” products, but can also be quite affordable. The store is establishing partnerships with some of Atlanta’s most sustainability-minded professionals in categories like energy efficiency and renovation. The line-up includes everything from Georgia-made recycled glass countertops featured on HGTV to tiles made from palm trees to purses crafted out of recycled seat belts.  At Eco Denizen every product on sale has a story to tell.

Eco Denizen is owned and operated by metro Atlanta native Gene Cox and his wife Xiorelis. Both Gene and Xiorelis have earned the professional credential LEED Green Associate administered by the United States Green Building Council.

In other Midtown business news, What Now Atlanta reported this week that the quick service dim sum restaurant, Ym Bunz, has submitted a building permit with the City of Atlanta. The applicants intend to construct a 3,4000-square-foot restaurant at 935 Marietta Street in West Midtown. A mid-October opening is being targeted according to the story.

On Friday, running and yoga outfitter Lululemon Athletica announced that it would be opening its West Midtown location on June 8. It will be located at 1168 Howell Mill Road in the space that formally housed the plant boutique Garden, which relocated to The Shops Around Lenox, where Lululemon has a location.
