New Italian Restaurant Coming to Midtown

"Campagnolo" recently broke ground on Piedmont Avenue.

A new Italian restaurant and bar wants to try its luck in a Midtown space considered "cursed" by some.

An eatery called Campagnolo has broken ground at 980 Piedmont Avenue, across the street from Outwrite Bookstore & Coffeehouse. The space has housed a variety of restaurants over the years, most recently Nonna Mia Cafe & Pizzeria.

Jeffrey Bruce Baker Designs LLC is leading the design of the project and recently posted a rendering of the new restaurant on the company's Facebook page

Campagnolo is a concept from The Peasant Restaurants and is set to open in February 2012, according to the design firm.

"Our extensive interior and faced restoration and renovation design being built by Cablik Enterprises will bring this 1910 building believed to be originally built by the S.B. Turman & Company back to life," said a Facebook post from Jeffrey Bruce Baker Designs LLC.
