New Taxi Service, uberX, Makes its Midtown Debut

Uber X says they are "better than a taxi, for the same price."

This is the perfect time to tell in-town residents about the launch of a new taxi service that claims to be better than a normal taxi and at a better price.  uberX launched its Atlanta service at the beginning of the month and hopes to change the common thought that taxi's are just way too expensive in Atlanta.

Over the past year, the company has already been offering uberBLACK, which is more of an exclusive black sedan transportation service, but now they are making their taxis affordable for everyone.

According to their Atlanta General Manager, Keith Radford says "uberX is our low-cost option that offers professional drivers you’re used to at taxi prices."  He goes on to explain, "uberX is mostly a mix of hybrid and mid-range cars — such as the Prius and Toyota Camry — in a variety of styles with seating for up to four people."

Midtown Patch readers have the opportunity to try the new service and receive $20 off their first taxi ride.  Keith Radford with Uber says, "we’ve created a promo code that your readers can enter in the Uber app to get a $20 discount off of their first uberX ride until December 31. The code is PatchuberX."

Try it out this weekend, see if the prices are any less expensive and whether or not the service is any better than the traditional taxi cabs we have in metro Atlanta. Then tell us your experience in the comments section.

How do I get an uberX!

1.  Open up your Uber app and you’ll find three options along the bottom: uberXBlack, or SUV.
2.  Toggle over to uberX to give it a try.
3.  Set your pickup location and tap the “Request uberX” button.
4.  Send us feedback via the in-app rating screen or @Uber_ATL
