Orangetheory Fitness, Sweet Hut Bakery and Newk’s Eatery Coming to Shops at Metropolis

Jamestown Development Firm recently announced that three new tenants will open in Shops at Metropolis (SAM) at the end of this year and into 2014. The Midtown destination, now 100 percent leased, will be home to Orangetheory Fitness, Sweet Hut Bakery & Café and Newk’s Eatery.

The 3 additional tenants join SAM’s mix of restaurants, retailers and services, offering the Midtown community even more lifestyle amenities.

“Each of the new tenants at Shops at Metropolis brings a fresh, exciting concept to the Midtown Mile,” said Kevin Green, president of Midtown Alliance. “Combining popular fitness, authentic dining and quality services, we are pleased to welcome the colorful collection of new faces to the neighborhood.”

An energizing group fitness concept, Orangetheory Fitness will become SAM’s exclusive fitness studio. The fast-growing concept is a one-of-a-kind group personal training workout that is broken into intervals of cardiovascular and strength training. Midtown residents and neighbors will have the opportunity for membership, which includes intense 60-minute sessions led by experienced staff with state-of-the-art equipment such as treadmills, rowing machines, SBT Suspension Training and free weights. Orangetheory Fitness is set to open this winter.

“Midtown is such a vibrant section of Atlanta. We have been eager to open an Orangetheory Fitness studio in this part of town, and Metropolis stood out for its convenient location and beautiful design,” said Pavel Stuchlik, Atlanta Area Developer for Orangetheory Fitness. “Our group interval workouts bring a new fitness dynamic to the Atlanta area. We are confident Metropolis residents and the surrounding community will immediately see the benefits of Orangetheory Fitness.”

For those who crave an exotic treat or quick bite to eat, Sweet Hut Bakery and Café will offer Asian inspired delicacies, snacks and refreshing beverages. Also located on Buford Highway, Atlanta’s centerpiece for authentic ethnic cuisine, the boutique bakery’s second location will bring cultural flair to the block with specialties including a variety of Taiwanese bubble teas, buns and pastries, such as the signature almond taro tarts and coconut crunch cookies. Sweet Hut Bakery & Café will open early 2014.

“Blossoming with diverse and exciting cultures, Midtown is the prime place for us to introduce our concept,” said Rachel Ewe, owner of Sweet Hut. “Our new location at Shops at Metropolis will accent the neighborhood with a bit of Chinatown flavor, and will be an inviting place to study, meet co-workers and enjoy our wide selection of specialty baked goods and lunch items.”

Previously announced as joining SAM, new neighbor Newk’s Eatery is a fast casual concept pioneered by the founders of McAlister’s Deli, a quick service restaurant specializing in hand-crafted sandwiches, spuds and other made-to-order menu items. The Midtown location, next to the popular La Tagliatella, will offer a variety of tasty choices with menu items that include crisp tossed salads, personal pizzas and toasted specialty sandwiches, along with a classic selection of homemade desserts and coffee for a sweet ending. For those hungry and in a hurry, Newk’s also offers a grab-n-go option, where ready-to-go sandwiches and salads are available for immediate pick-up as early as 9 a.m. From office lunches to family get-togethers, Newk’s Catering is a convenient option. Newk’s will open in November 2013.

“We have been anxiously waiting to open Newk’s Eatery in Midtown,” said Keith Estapa and Missy Moon, co-owners of Georgia’s newest location. “SAM is an ideal environment for Newk’s where we can provide professionals and residents of Midtown a fresh, made-from-scratch option that is only steps away from their home or office.”
