Today’s Midtown Patch Pic of the Day comes courtesy of The Touchdown Club of Atlanta, which has been meeting in Midtown for several years.
After previously meeting in the now closed Fox Sports Grill in Atlanta Station, The Touchdown Club has shifted its weekly Monday meetings to Hudson Grille Midtown, located at 942 Peachtree Street.
Monday’s meeting featured special guest speaker Gene Stallings. The former college football player and national champion head coach was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame two years.
Stallings was one of the famed "Junction Boys” who played under Coach Paul "Bear" Bryant in the mid-1950s at Texas A&M. He later coached at Alabama and his alma mater, before spending the better part of two decades coaching in the NFL, including as the head coach for the Cardinals’ franchise.
He then spent seven very successful seasons as the head coach at Alabama, where his 1992 team went 13-0 in winning the national championship.
Founded in 1938, The Touchdown Club of Atlanta promotes and recognizes the best of the best in high school and college football. Each week it honors a local high school back, lineman, coach and team of the week. See here for more information and upcoming guest speakers.
Hudson Grille Midtown also this year is home to the Paul Johnson Radio Show, as every Wednesday night the Georgia Tech football coach sits down with Wes Durham, the Voice of the Yellow Jackets, to talk about Ramblin Wreck football.
It broadcasts live, 7-8 p.m. on 19 radio stations across the state, including "790 The Zone" (WQXI-AM) and "All News 106.7" (WYAY-FM) in Atlanta.
Fans are strongly encouraged to show their support each week by being part of the audience. Great food and drink and a kick-start to the coming weekend's game are all on the menu at Hudson Grille Midtown each week during The Paul Johnson Radio Show.
