Troutman Sanders Awarded for Pro Bono Work

Midtown law firm cited for work representing the people in need and non-profit groups.

The American Bar Association's Business Law Section has awarded Troutman Sanders LLP with a 2013 National Public Service Award, highlighting its pro bono work.

The award recognizes those law firms with a long-term committment to providing free legal aid to those in need.

"Troutman Sanders exemplifies the characteristics the ABA Business Law Section seeks to recognize in awarding its National Public Service Award," Peter Carson, chairman of the ABA's National Public Service Award selection committee, said in a statement.

"These characteristics include a deep and sustained commitment to business law pro bono across the law firm, highlighted by singular achievements; enduring client relationships; collaborative partnerships; and innovative, needle moving signature projects."

Troutman Sanders was nominated for the award based on its continued work with a number of pro bono clients including Kids In Need of Defense , the Women’s Economic Development Agency and the Pro Bono Partnership of Atlanta.

The firm also has partnered with the in-house legal departments at Turner Broadcasting System Inc. and Southern Co.

“I am delighted and honored that Troutman Sanders has been selected by the Business Law Section for this prestigious award," Mark VanderBroek, a Troutman Sanders partner and chair of its Pro Bono Committee, said in a statement.

"We don’t do the things we do in the pro bono area for recognition, but this award is flattering and a testament to the efforts of a lot of lawyers and staff at our firm.”
