Léonce Law Debuts In Grand Fashion - And With Historic Twist!

An event billed as a law firm launch in Midtown felt more like the coronation of an emerging star attorney and new movement.

Choosing the 50th Anniversary date of the passage of the landmark Civil Rights Act of 1964 as her launch date, Attorney Porsche Léonce debuted her law firm Léonce Law in grand fashion before a select group of family, friends. clients and special guests at Livingston Restaurant + Bar at The Georgian Terrace in midtown Atlanta on July 2, 2014.  Themed "Léonce Law Celebrates The 50th Anniversary of the Civil Rights Act," the event appeared to achieve its stated goals of informing guests of Léonce's new law firm, while at the same time educating them on the Civil Rights Act of 1964.

Léonce Law, LLC is the brainchild of employment law specialist Porsche D. Léonce, Esq., who until now has spent her entire six year career with major law firms in Los Angeles and Atlanta representing employers in workplace disputes against employees.  Attorney Leonce, is a certified Employment Learning Innovations (ELI) trainer and an honors graduate of Pepperdine University School of Law.  An emerging star attorney, Léonce has been featured twice in Atlanta Tribune:  The Magazine since arriving in Atlanta from Los Angeles in 2011, including a feature earlier this year.

One highlight of the event was the appearance of The Honorable Thelma Wyatt Cummings Moore (retired Judge and Founder of Moore Law LLC) as the event's featured Speaker.  Judge Moore traced the passage of the act, which eventually would be signed into law by President Lyndon Johnson, to the foundational work of civil rights leaders and Johnson's predecessor President John F. Kennedy, while crediting President Johnson's clout in the US Congress necessary to move the bill into law.

Judge Moore also encouraged the guests to salute Attorney Léonce's bold move and stated that she believed Léonce has all of the elements necessary to become a star plaintiff's employment attorney with national appeal.  Atlanta Municipal Court Judge Terrinee Gundy gave an inspiring, eloquent introduction of Judge Moore to guests at the event.

Léonce also spoke at the event, encouraging guests to rally behind her cause and new law firm.  With passion, she explained that, in addition to the prominent Atlantans who came out to the event, there were several of her clients in the room, all whom she believed had suffered some form of injustice and mistreatment in their jobs, prompting legal action.

Before her speech,  Léonce was introduced to the guests by Schiff Hardin LLP Equity Partner Eric Barnum, Esq., who stated that the support and encouragement of defense attorneys for Léonce is a sign of the tremendous level of respect that they have for her.  A special moment occurred at the event when Barnum, just prior to introducing Léonce, made note of award presenter Attorney Charles Johnson's recent selection for induction into the 2014 National Bar Association's Hall of Fame.

Attorney Léonce was presented two awards near the end of the event.  On behalf of The Atlanta Business & Entertainment Exchange networking group, Urban Suburban, Inc. President & CEO Herbert Greene presented Attorney Léonce with the organization's 2014 "Influence" Award.  Poe Simpson Law Chairman Brian Poe, Esq. and American Technologies VP Daniel Fowler participated in the award presentation by The Atlanta Business & Entertainment Exchange, a group that Poe co-founded with entertainment executive John Williams.

On behalf of The Southern Regional Council (a civil rights organization founded in 1919), Attorney Charles Johnson, President of The Southern Regional Council and Equity Partner at Holland & Knight presented Attorney Léonce with an award-winning civil rights book from his organization's annual Lillian Smith Book awards contest.

The Host Committee for this event was chaired by Attorney Léonce and Attorney Poe, who also served as Master of Ceremonies of the event.  Other members of the Host Committee who were in attendance included:  Attorney Léonce's mother Katrina Léonce (a noted national public relations professional for law firms and sports organizations), Keni Léonce (sister and staff member for Attorney Léonce), and Jamie S. Cox, Esq. of Esquire Connect, LLC.

Among the attendees at the event were Pat Lottier, Publisher of the popular business & lifestyles publication Atlanta Tribune:  The Magazine, and Lisa Faulkner, Host of the radio show "Gamechangers" on Love 860-AM.  In addition to being featured twice in Atlanta Tribune:  The Magazine, Attorney Léonce was recently featured guest of Ms. Faulkner's show for a full hour.

This event was promoted by Esquire Connect, LLC, the national attorney recruiting and marketing firm that originally placed Attorney Léonce when she relocated from Los Angeles to Atlanta to join the award-winning labor & employment boutique Elarbee Thompson Sapp & Wilson.  In Attorney Poe's comments, he mentioned the intense recruiting effort that resulted in Elarbee Thompson's acquisition of Attorney Léonce from the Los Angeles office of a top national law firm and her outstanding reputation at his client law firm subsequently.
