Midtown Theater Actor's Express Names New Board Member

Actor’s Express, the Atlanta-based theater company that challenges and reflects contemporary human experiences in an inclusive environment with unique and cutting edge stage productions, has named community leader and retired psychiatrist Dr. Jesse Robert Peel to its board of directors.  In addition to his board seat, Peel will serve on the Actor’s Express development committee.

Peel brings a wealth of organizational, fundraising, non-profit and arts experience to the Actor’s Express board.  He has served on numerous boards of directors, including the boards of the Atlanta Lyric Theater, the Atlanta Gay Men’s Chorus, the John Howell Park Project, AID Atlanta, Positive Impact and AIDS Alliance for Faith and Healing. In the professional realm he is a member of Georgia Physicians for Human Rights and holds a certification from the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. 

He holds Bachelor of Science and Medicine and Doctor of Medicine degrees from the University of North Carolina and served in the Medical Corps with the U.S. Navy Reserve.  He has also held several medical teaching clinical positions at Vanderbilt University.

Peel retired from medical practice in 1992.

“Jesse’s commitment to our community is evident in the large number of organizations with which he’s served over the years,” said Actor’s Express Board President Bruce Cohen.  “We are delighted and honored that he is bringing his skills, talent and passion to the Actor’s Express board.”
