Synchronicity Moves Lasso of Truth World Premiere to Fall

The postponement follows the Woodruff Arts Center's sale of the former 14th Street Playhouse to the Savannah College of Art and Design in January.

ATLANTA, GA – Synchronicity Theatre will postpone the premiere of Lasso of Truth, originally scheduled to open March 21 at SCADshow (formerly 14th Street Playhouse). The postponement follows the Woodruff Arts Center’s sale of the building to the Savannah College of Art and Design on Jan. 2.

Synchronicity produced the most successful show in their history (Peter Pan and Wendy) at 14th Street Playhouse in December. The nonprofit theatre company supports plans for the building, particularly the Woodruff’s decision to donate $1 million from the sale to the Community Foundation for Greater Atlanta to create a fund serving metro performing arts organizations. Nonetheless, the sale introduced a shift in priorities for Synchronicity, who will be looking for a more permanent home for next season.

“SCAD and the Woodruff Arts Center have both been terrific in this transition, and have made it possible for us to be successful,” explains Synchronicity Producing Artistic Director Rachel May, “But the building sale created a domino effect for us that caused us to re-prioritize our next steps.  We want this show to be perfectly positioned and the Fall will be the best time.” The nonprofit theatre’s next Family Series show, Where the Mountain Meets the Moon, opens Friday, February 14th at SCADshow.

“SCAD has done a gorgeous re-imagining of the building,” says May.

About Lasso of Truth
Written by Carson Kreitzer, Lasso of Truth is smart and seductive, tracing the origin story and lasting impact of the comic character Wonder Woman through an imagining of the life of her controversial creator William Marston. Synchronicity is partnering with local cosplay organization Girls of the Con to promote Lasso of Truth. By moving the play’s world premiere to next season, Synchronicity anticipates even more opportunities to connect with local comic book fandom, including a presence at DragonCon.
