Worthmore Jewelers candy collection drive for Operation Stars and Stripes collects more than 700 lbs. of candy to send to troops abroad

Worthmore Jewelers has ended its fifth annual “Snackdown” candy collection competition between the local jeweler retailers’ Midtown and Decatur communities. The Midtown community emerged victorious with over 500 lbs. of candy collected in the ten-day drive period.

With a total of more than 700 lbs. raised between both stores, Worthmore founder and owner, Harris Botnick, says he is very happy with the results of this year’s drive. “We have always gotten such a positive response to these drives from our customers,” said Botnick. “In recent years we have even had some of our community members start their own drives within their neighborhoods and schools, and bring in the candy raised there!”

All candy collected at Worthmore’s “Snackdown” is donated to the organization Operation Stars and Stripes which includes these candy donations in care packages sent to servicemen and women abroad.
