Atlanta students listen, learn through local Met Opera broadcasts

Students in eight Atlanta schools have been participating in the sixth season of the Metropolitan Opera’s The Met: HD Live in Schools this year. The program is a groundbreaking cross-disciplinary education course that uses opera to enhance students’ studies in a variety of subject areas, including music, theater, history, and English Language Arts.

“Since the launch of the program in 2008, The Met: HD Live in Schools has reached more than 55,000 students across the country,” said Geri Thomas, Georgia market president, Bank of America, which is the founding sponsor of the program. “This unique program will bring many students their first experience with opera, and we hope it will spark a lifetime love of the arts.”
