Two Art Venues Worth Visiting, Especially This Weekend

Places to go and things to do recommended by someone "in the know"

There are two gems situated right next to each other off Peachtree Road down Bennett Street in South Buckhead. The Museum of Contemporary Art Georgia (MOCA Georgia) www.mocaga.org and the Tula Art Center www.tulaartcenter.com are filled with inspiring visual art and each have a special event this weekend.

On Friday, 11/9 from 11 am to 5 pm and Saturday, 11/10 from 11 am to 8 pm, the Tula Art Center will host an “Open Studio” when all of the artists will be on hand to showcase their creations. While most days the Tula Art Center is open to the public, you are not guaranteed to have access to all of the studios.

This is a unique opportunity when all the artists open their doors to welcome you into their workspace and share their talents. The closing reception is Saturday, 11/10 from 5 pm to 8 pm.

Next door MOCA Georgia will hold the opening reception for their new exhibit, Ayokunle Odeleye, 32 Years of Public Art on Friday, 11/9 from 6:30 pm to 8:30.  This retrospective exhibit will showcase models, drawings and photos of sculpture commissioned for public spaces all over the country.
