Fun Things Happening in Midtown

From Puck to Buzz, enjoy a beautiful Midtown weekend with these family-friendly bets:

  • A MIDSUMMER NIGHT’S DREAM

When/Where: It’s opening weekend for this production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream at .  
Why Go: The Shakespeare Tavern gives this comedy a Bardometer Rating of 2 -- meaning there is limited violence, bawdiness and need for audience members to conduct pre-show research.  The Tavern recommends this type of play for school-age children -- making it a great introduction to Shakespeare and a fun evening out for the family!  
Pricing:  As I am writing, there are $9 tickets still available for Wednesday morning at 10:00 a.m.  After this opening special, tickets are $17 - $32.

  • EARTH DAY AT THE BOTANICAL GARDEN

When/Where: Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the .
Why Go: Definitely one of the best places in Atlanta to celebrate Earth Day -- enjoy ladybug releases, frog talks and frog care, family Garden tours and Children’s Garden storybook time -- and Earth Day admission is two for the price of one.
Pricing: Yep, admission is two for the price of one!  Members and children under three are free.

  • EASTER EGG HUNT

When/Where: Saturday from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at .
Why Go:  Midtown families are invited to decorate Easter bonnets for an Easter parade, take photos with the Easter Bunny, and enjoy a Petting Zoo, Moon Walk, food and more at Grace’s annual Easter Egg Hunt!
Pricing: Free.

When/Where: Saturday from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. in Atlantic Station’s Central Park.  (Central Park is located between 18th and 19th streets and East and West District Avenues.)
Why Go:  Children will have fun with relays, a Jelly Bean count, crafts, face painting, and games with prizes. The event will also include an opportunity for children to bring their pets for a photo with the Easter Bunny (proceeds will benefit the Atlanta Humane Society), chocolate fondue dips for $1.00, pet adoption, and live music from Radio Disney.   
Pricing:  Free to attend.

When/Where: Saturday's festivities begin at 11:00 a.m. on Callaway Plaza with kickoff at noon at Bobby Dodd Stadium.
Why Go: Join the Ga. Tech band, cheerleaders and Buzz in celebrating as the 2011 Yellow Jackets and Coach Johnson conclude Spring drills. The day will include music, inflatables, face painting, games and prizes (including season tickets and autographed jerseys.)
Pricing: Free admission.
