Police Announce Increased Peachtree Road Race Security

Heightened security measures for this year's Peachtree Road Race were announced on Thursday.

The Atlanta Police Department announced new security measures for this year's Peachtree Road Race on Thursday afternoon.

Among the measures announced: 

Atlanta police will be operating a ioint operations center at Atlanta Public Safety Headquarters from July 3-5. Also on hand will be the FBI, GBI, the Georgia Emergency Management Agency and the Atlanta-Fulton County Emergency Management Agency;

Live feeds from the APD's video center will be fed into the joint operations center; 
More cameras have been added to the Peachtree Road Race route;

More officers will be on the street during July 3-5. Off-days have been canceled and officers will be working 12-hour shifts;

Increased security as well has been added to the fireworks shows at Centennial Olympic Park, Turner Field and Lenox Square.
