Occupy Atlanta Protesters March to Bank of America Plaza

Protesters voiced anger over bank bailouts

Occupy Atlanta Protesters marched Tuesday afternoon from downtown's Woodruff Park to the Plaza.

The group began occupying Woodruff Park after an organizational meeting Friday night. On Monday, protesters declared that they had renamed the area Troy Davis Park in honor of the Savannah man executed in September in the 1989 killing of a Savannah Police Officer.

The protesters have drawn fire for a decision not to allow Congressman and civil rights icon John Lewis to speak at Friday night's gathering. The Occupy Atlanta Media Committee has issued an invitation for Lewis to address the group and expressed regret that "that anything we have done would seem to show disrespect for a man whom many of us revere."

Lewis himself has said he did not feel disrespected by the group's decision on Friday.

During Tuesday's march, Occupy Atlanta protesters voiced support for housing for homeless people and anger over federal government bailouts of banks.
