Connector Reopens after Railings Fall from 17th St. Bridge

No injuries reported.

People can drive through the city of Atlanta again.

The downtown Connector reopened Sunday after closing late Saturday night when railings from the 17th Street bridge fell onto the expressway. 

Police shut down the interstate to prevent injuries from falling debris, Atlanta Police Department spokeswoman Officer Kim Jones said just before midnight.

All lanes of the Connector closed from I-20 to 17th Street when debris fell from signage at the bridge in Midtown, according to the Georgia Department of Transportation. 

No injuries were reported, according to the AJC.

The newspaper reports that a single bolt failed and caused the railing to fail.
