Readers' Choice: Best Place to Celebrate St. Patrick's Day

Where will you be to celebrating all things green on Saturday, March 17?

Whether you're digging into some corned beef and cabbage and maybe shepherd's pie, or washing it down with a Guinness or possibly green beer, St. Patrick's Day is always cause for celebration. And with the holiday landing on a Saturday this year, the green good times are likely to be especially enthusiastic.

Since the ninth century, the Irish have been celebrating the feast of St. Patrick and today, 18 of the largest 20 St. Patrick’s Day parades in the world are celebrated in the United States.

We’ll have no parades in Midtown (the 130th annual Atlanta St. Patrick’s Parade will be in downtown), but there will be plenty opportunities to get your green on this holiday. And that brings us to this week’s Readers’ Choice poll as we’re asking Midtown Patch readers where's the best place to locally celebrate St. Patrick's Day?

Is it at Meehan’s Public House in Atlantic Station where Better Than Ezra will headline the ShamRock the Station event? Or maybe the place to be is at Park Tavern for "a full day of RIDICULOUS St. Patrick’s Day nonsense" at LEPRE*CON 2012?

And from celebrations at West Midtown Corner Tavern, where Everybody's Irish, to the St. Patrick's Day Bash at Deadwood Saloon, there will be plenty of "Erin go Bragh" and "would you like some of me lucky charms" slurred at Midtown watering holes this weekend.

And of course there's Ri Ra, Midtown's only Irish pub, which will be open at 6 a.m. serving a traditional Irish breakfast. Irish Baladeer Kathleen Donahue will perform and the outdoor party begins at 2 p.m.

So where’s the best Midtown spot to get pinched, kissed and celebrate all things Irish this year?

Here are our picks, but as always, if we've left one off that you feel should be included, please let us know in the comments and we'll add it.

Meehan's Public House

Ri Ra Irish Pub

Voting in the poll below is open until 9 a.m. Friday. Ties will be broken by whichever business has the most positive comments in the section below. We will announce the winner at noon Friday.
