The Week Ahead in Midtown

You can take class for small business owners who want government contracts, meet a Bravo executive who just wrote a book, attend an art exhibit opening, parade with your pet and laugh along with a stand-up comedian.

1. Get that contract! This 8(a) certification program is part of the Small Business Administration’s mission to help socially and economically disadvantaged business owners compete for federal government contracts. Take a class at 10 a.m. Monday at the SBA at 233 Peachtree St. NE, 19th floor. Free.

2. Meet Bravo executive Andy Cohen. He'll sign and talk about his book, Most Talkative: Stories from the Front Lines of Pop Culture. 6 p.m. Tuesday at Barnes & Noble, 48 Fifth St. NW. Free.

3. Opening reception of art exhibition. "Awakenings" by Susan Zinger will be on display through May 11 with an opening reception at 6 p.m. Thursday at Steve McKenzie's, 996 Huff Road NW, Ste E. Free.

4. Pet Parade Walk for Animals. Join other animal lovers and their pets as they walk the 1.5-mile course around Atlantic Station to help raise funds and awareness for animals in the local community. All day Saturday.

5. Comedy at the Laughing Skull Lounge. Rick Overton appears at 8 p.m. Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday at the Laughing Skull Lounge, 878 Peachtree St NE. $15 cover.
