With the beginning of a new year and New Year’s resolutions on the rise, many people may be asking what next? The Junior Chamber International of Atlanta is answering just that. JCI-Atlanta offers a wide range of opportunities and events such as community service, networking, personal development, happy hours, trips, international relations, and more.
The next event, the General Membership Meeting, will take place on Tuesday, January 22 from 6:00-8:30pm at Park Tavern in Piedmont Park. The public is invited to join the Jaycees for an hour of networking, followed by announcements and keynote speaker, Phil Minnes.
Phil joined the Atlanta Jaycees in December 2005. In 2006 he served as VP Membership and traveled to Seoul, Korea to represent Atlanta at JCI's World Congress. Phil served as chapter President in 2007 and Chairman of the Board in 2008, where he again represented JCI Atlanta at a 2nd World Congress in Antalya, Turkey. Professionally, Phil owns and manages the Phil Minnes Agency with American Family Insurance in Johns Creek, the number one agency in the state of Georgia for both number of customers and for total annual premium. Phil believes "Once you can successfully lead a team of volunteers toward common goals for a year or more, then managing employees you are actually paying salary to is easy." He currently serves as President of the Atlanta Lions Club and holds a position on the Board of Governors for the City Club of Buckhead where he is responsible for hosting several networking activities each month for members.
Cost of this event is free for members and $10 for guests. Event photography will be provided by Garrin Evan Studios.
In addition to the General Membership Meeting, the Jaycees have reserved the private NuVox Suite at Philips Arena to watch the Atlanta Hawks vs. the Memphis Grizzlies on Wednesday, February 6 at 7:00pm. These tickets are at a discounted rate of $30 and only available through the website (www.jciatlanta.org) or http://bit.ly/V4zSCZ. Beyond that, new events are frequently posted on the website.
