BENEFIT FOR AV 200 RIDE AND ARCA

After a thorough springtime renovation of a well-situated location, Henry’s Midtown Tavern will open this weekend with an open-to-the-public party that will double as a benefit for AV 200 Ride (supporting the AIDS Vaccine and Emory Vaccine Center) and ARCA (AIDS Research Consortium of Atlanta).

The Opening Party will take place Saturday, June 8 from 8 to 11 p.m. and includes complimentary house wine, beer, passed appetizers and a cash bar. There is a suggested $10 donation at the door.

Henry’s is the latest Midtown endeavor from Campagnolo Restaurant + Bar owner Maureen Kalmanson and is located on 10th Street between Juniper and Peachtree.

Named for Maureen’s dog, Henry’s will feature a casual environment that is food-centric with a chef-driven menu created by Campagnolo Chef Daniel Chance of appetizers, pastas, sandwiches, entrée salads and fabulous desserts. As a tavern, Henry’s will serve 12 beers on draft and about 50 in bottles. There will also be a nice wine selection. Menu highlights include Ahi Tuna Pizza, Cilantro Deviled Eggs, Thai Chicken Salad, Patty Melt Burger with Russian Dressing on Texas Toast, New Orleans BBQ Shrimp with local Grits, Chipotle Hot Wings and Smoked Short Ribs Tacos.

Giving a nod to traditional tavern décor, Maureen has opted for barn wood doors opening to a spacious interior with two bars. The neutral palette inside is found on milk chocolate walls and dark chocolate booths with textured reclaimed wood columns behind the bar from Dryads Dancing and additional wood features throughout. Much of the material was recycled from the building’s renovation, and other wood came from tobacco barns in North Georgia and North Carolina. With booths, tables and high-tops, the interior will seat 100 guests. Televisions will be located within the bar and dining areas to show sporting events and other big television events (season premieres, award shows etc.), but they will be subtly placed so that patrons will be able to hold conversations.

At opening, Henry’s will include a front patio capable of seating 60 guests, and Maureen has plans to add a large side deck under the canopy of the trees on 10th Street. The additional patio will hold 150 people, and she hopes to have that complete during summer.
