Macy's Hosts Eighth Annual "Shop For A Cause" on Saturday, August 24

What:
Macy's invites customers to participate in its eighth annual "Shop For A Cause" charity event on Aug. 24, 2013. Macy's "Shop For A Cause" is a unique, one-day-only shopping event, created to support the fundraising efforts of local charities, which has helped raise more than $45 million since 2006. In addition to thousands of local charities selling savings passes across the country, Macy's has designated March of Dimes, the leading nonprofit organization in support of pregnancy and baby health, as its national beneficiary of all proceeds of sales of "Shop For A Cause" savings passes in Macy's stores and on macys.com.

By purchasing $5 "Shop For A Cause" savings passes in stores, customers will be supporting the March of Dimes and will receive 25 percent off on regular, sale and clearance merchandise, as well as 10 percent off electrics, electronics, watches, furniture, mattresses and area rugs in the store all day Saturday, Aug. 24. Customers also are eligible to win a $500 gift card.

New this year, Macy's is partnering with the March of Dimes mobile-giving partners Mobile Commons and the BBB Mobile Giving Foundation to allow customers to purchase their savings pass conveniently using their smart phones, while receiving the same great Macy's deal. Customers who choose to participate will receive a $5 charge on their phone bill by their wireless provider. Each wireless provider will collect this charge and submit to the Mobile Giving Foundation, which will then transfer all contributions to the March of Dimes. Customers can also shop online at macys.com, as passes purchased there on Aug. 24 will also benefit the March of Dimes.
