Mark Klett Lecture at the High Museum of Art
Geologist-turned-photographer Mark Klett has built an innovative body of work through exploring the West’s enduring allure. Working with colleague Byron Wolf, Klett painstakingly seeks out the locations of historic western photographs and documents the contemporary landscapes from their iconic perspectives. He creatively reconstructs the landscapes in his studio, creating pictures that whimsically integrate the past and the present through careful digital collage. His pictures speak to a collective sense of place across time and prove that the West remains an inspiring landscape for artistic discovery.
