The Georgia Trust for Historic Preservation Fall Ramble

This October 4-6, join The Georgia Trust for Historic
Preservation for the 2013 Fall Ramble, when we discover Madison Unseen! – over 40 sites that are rarely seen by the public.
Friday starts the weekend with the “Mansions of Madison,” including the classic
antebellum Hilltop, an 1838 home which sits on one of the highest points in
Madison; the Burney-Ponder-Rushing house, a stunning three-gabled Victorian-era
cottage; and Terrell Plantation, which was once home to George Terrell, upon
whom author Joel Chandler Harris based his famous fictional character Uncle
Remus. Guests will explore “Town and Country” on Saturday, having a barbecue
lunch in Bostwick, home of the Annual Cotton Gin Festival, and tour gorgeous
private residences such as the Edmund Walker Town House, the award-winning
gardens and home of Cedar Lane Farm and the unique 55-acre property of
Summershade, which was featured in Garden
and Gun
magazine. The weekend ends with a Sunday brunch in Town Park and a
look at “In Town Living – Loft Life” featuring more than nine contemporary loft
homes including “The Ice House” and the penthouse apartments of the James
Madison Inn.

For visitors and native Madisonians alike, you won't want to
