"Empty Bowls" to help the hungry

AARP will be celebrating an infusion of federal funds to help it sign up older Georgians for food assistance with a sale of "Empty Bowls" and "Simple Meals."

The sale of donated bowls is modeled after the grassroots Empty Bowls project, which is designed to raise awareness and resources for hunger relief. The majority of the bowls were donated by the Georgia State University Ceramic Studio.

Empire State South restaurant, which is located in the same building as AARP Georgia, is joining the effort to combat senior hunger by offering a “Simple Meal” on their menu throughout the week.  Diners can have their meal served in an Empty Bowl if they wish.
