Join the Ansley Park Security Patrol Today, Plus Local Holiday Safety Tips

If you want to be a target this winter, leave that new flat-screen box on the curb for all who pass-by to see.

The following was printed in the Ansley Park Civic Association Newsletter.  In the wake of some recent small crimes and trespassing suspects, we are sharing in hope more residents will get involved with the security patrol.

We still need 125 more security memberships to meet our budget for 2013-2014!! We have just added a 14th shift and are now operating 3 shifts in the wee hours of the morning, 3-7 and 4-8.  If we don't meet our goal, we will need to cut one of these shifts.

HOLIDAY SAFETY TIPS

1.  Check mail daily and make sure all packages left at the doorstep are retrieved immediately.  For those not home during the day, consider having your packages delivered to your office.

4.  When shopping, don't get overloaded with too many packages.  Keep at least one had free so you can easily access your car keys to enter your vehicle without delay.

5.  Stay alert in public spaces.  Know where your purse, packages, wallet, cell phone and other valuable are at all times and never leave valuables unattended.  Talking or texting on your phone or digging in your purse for your keys while walking is a distraction and makes you an easy target.

6.  Do not leave empty boxes curbside that might identify newly purchased valuable merchandise in your home like a flat screen TV box
