A Midtown Minute with Tabatha Coffey

Professional stylist Tabatha Coffey gives tips for good hair during a recent visit to Midtown.

Last year, I had the pleasure of interviewing Bravo's Tabatha Coffey when she came to Midtown.

Tabatha, a professional stylist made famous for taking over hair salons on Tabatha's Salon Takeover signed her book, It's Not Really About the Hair, at Outwrite Bookstore, made an appearance at the , and shaved heads at for St. Baldrick's, an organization that fights children's cancer.

When Tabatha called my cell, I wasn't sure to expect. OK I admit, I was even a little scared! But she couldn't have been nicer, even taking some extra time to answer questions from my blog's readers, like which flat iron is best.

Little did I know that while Tabatha was in town, she was also 'taking over' three different Georgia businesses, including Pat's Hair Shop in Douglasville that aired last week.

This season, Tabatha takes over other types of businesses as well. She's already made over a gay bar (her parents ran a strip club known for transsexual performers in Australia) and in a coming episode, she 'takes over' an Atlanta chiropractor's office.

One of my other favorite shows is Toddlers and Tiaras about child beauty pageants that often take place in Georgia and the South, so I asked Tabatha her thoughts on children that age being judged on their looks, including of course, their hair. I also asked what she thinks of big hair (her answer my surprise you!).

One of my biggest takeaways from the interview was when Tabatha told me that some salons are only expensive because of their location and real estate, not necessarily quality or service, and shared some tips for picking a quality stylist.
