ASO Faces Budget Issues

The Atlanta Symphony Orchestra is facing uncertainty going into its fall season as budget cuts and labor issues continue to affect the orchestra. Last year, the orchestra brought in less revenue than it spent, and now it is attempting to reach a compromise with its musicians, who could face pay cuts.

Matisyahu Plays House Show in Atlanta

One lucky Grant Park high school teacher got an awesome surprise when she won a national competition for a free show from Matisyahu. The reggae artist played a concert in her living room for her family and friends, likely his smallest show of the season.

ONE Music Festival This Weekend

ONE Music Festival returns for the third year to Atlanta this Labor Day weekend. Skewed toward hip-hop music and DJs, the fest features performances by a number of artists including Santigold, DJ Speakerfoxxx and Doug E. Fresh.

ONE takes place at the Historic Old Fourth Ward Park as well as the Masquerade Music Park this Saturday. The event also features a food truck showcase and live art. Get tickets here.

Check It! Pick of the Week

The folk scene is seriously gaining ground in popular music. The Cumberland Collective, a group of singer-songwriters across the country, is bringing its take on folk music to Atlanta this week. The up-and-coming group plays Eddie’s Attic this Thursday at 8 p.m. Get tickets here.
