Check It!: Week of Nov. 19-25

A weekly roundup of all things music in Atlanta. This week: new tracks from Qurious, a free show by Phillip Phillips and Radiolucent at Peachtree Tavern.

Listen to New Album From Qurious

Local electronic hip-hop duo Qurious is currently streaming two of the tracks off its new album “Void Vanishing” on its Bandcamp page. The new album is heavy on the ambient tones with plenty of the sampling Qurious is known for.

Qurious will be with Feast of Violet and Easily Suede at The Drunken Unicorn this Wednesday. The show is $8 and starts at 9 p.m.

Free Show From Phillip Phillips

A few weeks back we reported that the release date for the debut album from American Idol winner Phillip Phillips had been moved forward, and now that time has come. The Georgia native’s album “The World from the Other Side of the Moon,” featuring the single “Home,” drops today.

Phillips will be at the Mall of Georgia Village Amphitheater this Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. for a free acoustic performance and album signing. The performance is open to everyone, but the signing is for those with a wristband available with purchase of the album from the amphitheater.

Check It! Pick of the Week

Radiolucent, a Southern rock band out of the music mecca of Athens, will be playing at the Peachtree Tavern this Saturday. Although the group came together over five years ago, Radiolucent only recently released its first album, a whiskey-fueled ode to the South.

See Radiolucent with Josh Roberts and the Hinges—a rock and roll band with elements of blues, country, soul and punk—starting at 9:30 p.m. Get tickets here.
