1 Dead, 1 Wounded During Shootout Outside Bolton Rd CVS

Evidence at the scene indicates that the shooting may be drug related.

Atlanta police say an Atlanta man collapsed and died inside a westside CVS store after being involved in a Tuesday evening shootout outside the drug store.

The deceased has been identified as 28-year-old Michael Holmes, while a second unidentified man was wounded during the shooting that took place around 6 p.m. near the intersection of Marietta Boulevard and Bolton Road.

According to Sgt. Greg Lyon, the wounded man was shot “in the lower extremities,” and was transported to Grady Memorial Hospital in stable condition.

The preliminary investigation indicates that Holmes and at least one other person exchanged gunfire while outside the business, and that there is some type of connection between Holmes and the shooter as they may have been targeting each other. It also appears that the injured male and Holmes knew each other.
