APD Arrest Pair Allegedly Breaking Into Vehicles on Westside

Twenty-six vehicles reportedly were broken into in the area around the Alexan MetroWest apartments.

Atlanta police arrested a pair of males accused of breaking into numerous vehicles early Wednesday morning on Atlanta’s westside.

According to spokesperson Kim Jones, officers responded to a call at the Alexan MetroWest apartments, located at 1040 Huff Road. Three black males were observed in the parking garage and upon noticing the police, took off on foot.

The officers gave chase and two of the males were apprehended while the third got away. Both suspects were in possession of large socket wrenches.

A subsequent survey of the area revealed that a total of 26 vehicles were broken into, including two that sustained damage to the steering column and ignition in an apparent attempt to steal the vehicles.

Daquelle Carter, 19, was charged with criminal trespass, theft by taking, possession of tools to commit a crime, possession of marijuana and obstruction of a law enforcement officer among other charges. As of Friday, he remained in the Fulton County jail.
