APD Crime Report: Robberies Up 25% Year-to-Date From 2012

Citywide, there were 48 robberies reported for Week 8, bringing the 2014 year-to-date total to 292. The figure marks a 14 percent decrease from the same point last year 339 robberies, but a spike since 2012.

The Atlanta Police Department has released its crime report for Week 8 that spanned Feb. 16-22.

Citywide, there were 48 robberies reported for Week 8, bringing the 2014 year-to-date total to 292.

That figure marks a 14 percent decrease from the same point last year (339 robberies), but a 25 percent increase from the same point in 2012 (234).

There were six murders in the city through the first eight weeks, which is a 57 percent decrease from the same point in 2013.

Other crimes that are down from last year according to police statistics include aggravated assault (7 percent), burglary (10 percent), auto larceny (11 percent), larceny/other (12 percent) and auto theft (24 percent).
